PART 1 of 2 – Theory (eLearning)

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, waterskills exercises and workshops, and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of scuba diving activities. The eLearning theory for the Dive Master course includes home study, as well as review sessions and 2 final exams. This is based around 9 different chapters, from the conduct of a PADI professional to the science – physics and physiology of diving, to equipment etc. The 2 final exams cover the dive theory, as well as the Instructor Manual and the PADI code of conduct.

PART 2 of 2 – Practical & in-water training

Throughout the program you will work closely with our OrcaNation instructors, whilst fine-tuning your dive and rescue skills and so much more! We recommend you stay with us uninterrupted for 6 to 8 weeks to complete the practical part of your Divemaster training. If this is not possible, inquire for a custom executive package, enabling you to split the training into multiple blocks over maximum 12 months. The actual training, comprises of the following components:

Watermanship Evaluation

This consists of different in-water fitness tests – timed swims and snorkel, as well as the ‘skill circuit’ – becoming proficient in the demonstration and remediation of underwater skills, as you would being a Divemaster conducting the Scuba Review, and as a preparation for the instructor course, should you chose to go onto that too.

You also will be revising the Rescue Scenario from your rescue course of location, surfacing and towing an unconscious diver with exit back to shore.

Equipment exchange – a test of stressors underwater.

Assisting

You will be expected to assist a minimum of – 1 full Open Water course (may be split into separate components of Academics, pool and dives); 1 continuing education course (e.g Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver or Specialty courses).

Practical Application / Workshop

With your instructor you will work through a number of Divemaster conducted workshops – including Scuba Review, Discover Scuba Diver, Dive Site set up and management; Dive Guiding; dive site mapping; Emergency Assistance Plan preparation; Search and Recovery scenario; deep dive scenario.

Professionalism
