PART 1 of 3 – Theory (eLearning)

You will learn the fundamentals of self rescue, diver rescue, and accident prevention methods. This will help improve your understanding of how to eliminate stress from both yourself and others in order to avoid situations which could lead to a rescue being needed. You will then undertake a final assessment to confirm your understanding and review your knowledge.

PART 2 of 3 – Skills Practice & In-Water Training

After completing your final assessment you will join one of our OrcaNation Dive Professional either in a pool or in the ocean where you will perform 10 rescue exercises and self-rescue demonstrations.

PART 3 of 3 – Open Water Exercises & Rescue Scenarios

You will be required to perform the rescue exercises again in the ocean with an OrcaNation Dive Professional. You must successfully prove your competence in both self-rescue and rescuing others using the correct techniques. You will then be placed in near real-life scenarios in which you will be required to lead and perform the rescue of a missing unresponsive diver underwater and on the surface.You will be asked to prepare an emergency assistance plan before following through with your rescue plan.All training will be performed in very realistic situations to prepare you for a real emergency.

What you need to complete certification
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent from another training agency .
  • EFR First Aid (Primary & Secondary Care) within the past 24 months.*
  • To be at least 12 years of age
  • To be medically fit to dive
